The straightforward user-interface with simple database-management requires only a short period of training while maintaining sophisticated tasks such as the processing of network measurement data, calculation of stake-out data, evaluation and presentation of displacement measurements and many more.
Additionally, modern robotic total stations can be controlled by the software and automatic monitoring of 3D points or surfaces (1D, reflectorless) can be carried out (see GEOROBOT).
EUPALINOS has been successfully used in several hundreds tunneling projects to perform extensive calculations, heading control surveys, stake-out operations and many other operations.
Data ManagementEUPALINOS enabels data management and calculations not just within general project coordinate systems but also in respect to an alignment and a certain profile geometry.
Therefore, center lines, headings and profile geometries can be entered into the system for further processing.
EUPALINOS offers element-wise data input, consistency checks and enables strict computations in respect to the tunnel design. Point coordinates can be introduced by either an import of simple ASCII files or by entering them via the straightforward user interface. Points can then be grouped and managed in certain ways and stored as reference points or monitoring (object) points.
Data ProcessingEUPALINOS is a mighty tool when it comes to processing of measurement data and point coordinates.
The software is capable of reading measurement data from several instrument manufacturers such as LEICA and SOKKIA and can be used to process tachymetric and levelling data.
When measurement data is introduced to the software it is transformed into a generic, text-based file format which offers all relevant information at a glance. This data can then be used to perform certain tasks such as the calculation of levelling lines, a total station resection or a calculation of 3D coordinates of monitoring points.
Furthermore, EUPALINOS is capable of handling network-adjustments which are needed when performing high precision surveys in engineering geodesy such as a heading control survey.
All results can be displayed numerically and graphically and reports are generated automatically.
If an alignment is present to the system, several additional features become available which include profile checks, calculation of setting-out data and many more.
Geotechnical EvaluationWhen it comes to 3D monitoring of points, results need to be available quickly and need to be presented in an easy-understandable graphic.
With EUPALINOS, the coordinates of the observed object points are stored in the database immediately after the measurement data stream has been transferred and analysed, together with the tunnel heading chainage forming the basis of the geotechnical analysis.
All analyses are performed without an intermediate step or data export, directly using the 3D points administered in the Eupalinos database. New analyses and changes in the database therefore have immediate effect in the graphical representation. Points which are queried (outliers) are not deleted, but only flagged and optionally deactivated in the visualisation.
